Everything you need to know about Mom's produce boxes, our farm partners, and how fundraising works.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
Partners promote the sale of fresh produce boxes to their connected communities through their usual channels. Families order online from a variety of box options. Mom's delivers everything to one pickup spot at a designated time, and the partner group earns money for every box sold. No inventory, no hassle — just fresh, local food and easy fundraising.
What is Mom's quality guarantee?
Mom's packs produce boxes in a certified food-safe facility within 24 hours of distribution. All produce is inspected and kept in refrigeration until packing. If you receive produce that doesn't meet your expectations, report it to Mom's within 24 hours and we'll deliver a replacement. Our customer service team is attentive and can be reached at mom@momsmicrogarden.com.
Where does Mom's get local produce?
Mom's partners with a wide network of Washington farms, including Four Elements Farm (a woman-owned BIPOC farm in Puyallup), Carpinito Brothers (a medium-sized farm in Kent), Yakima Nation (a First Nations farm in Yakima), and many others. As seasons allow, we include fruit from Eastern Washington growers like Rowley and Hawkins. Every Local Bounty Box also includes Mom's super-fresh microgreens — a nutritional boost you can put on anything you're already eating. Each box contains six different items (typically more than one of each) and is available year-round. Buying a Local Bounty Box supports multiple Washington farms at once.
What goes into a Wild Harvest Box?
These produce boxes work a bit like the Imperfect Produce model — but most of the food isn't "imperfect" at all. It's high-quality produce that simply didn't have a path to market. Every day, good food falls through the cracks of the regional food system. This program catches it while it's still fresh, vibrant, and ready to be enjoyed by families. Each box offers exceptional variety and value beyond what you'll find at the grocery store — typically 20+ pounds of produce, including at least eight different items with two or more fruits. Available year-round.
What are microgreens?
Microgreens are young vegetable greens harvested just after the first leaves develop, typically within 7–21 days of germination. Despite their small size, they're nutritional powerhouses — often containing up to five times more vitamins and minerals than their fully grown counterparts. At Mom's Micro Garden, we believe fresh microgreens should be part of everyday nutrition for kids, seniors, and anyone looking to supercharge their diet. Sprinkle them on pizza to win over picky eaters, blend micro basil into spaghetti sauce for hidden health benefits, or toss them into salads, wraps, and smoothies. Delicious, colorful, and packed with goodness — microgreens are every mom's best-kept secret.
Are the boxes always the same?
Box contents rotate, but they'll be largely the same for each distribution event. Inside every box you'll find a description of contents and a recipe featuring ingredients from the box.
Can Mom's source other fundraiser items like boxes of fruit or seasonal pies?
Yes! Mom's has a wide network and can bring in all kinds of fresh food items if you have demand in your community.
Can Mom's make culturally relevant produce boxes?
Yes. If your community includes many people from a specific cultural background, we can source items that are familiar and desired — for example, East African Halal boxes, Latino boxes, or Asian-Pacific Islander boxes. To do a specific cultural mix, we request a minimum of 24 boxes of each type so we can procure full cases without waste.
Is the produce stored in a food-safe environment?
Yes. All produce goes directly into cold storage in a certified food-safe warehouse. Mom's microgreens are harvested in our Sumner greenhouse and stored properly prior to distribution. We're professionals who care about food quality and safety.
